August Goals

I haven't shared monthly goals for a while because I've been taking a break from my big goals. For the record, I'm still on this break. I'm planning to do a full re-evaluation of my goals this month with plans to start implementing my new goals next month. I'll share more when I'm done!

However, in the meantime, I finally got my motivation back for goal making and decided to sit down and make some goals for August.

It goes against everything in me to do something before I'm fully ready or prepared. But sometimes this is what's called for. Because acting on something is usually better than not doing anything at all.

So this month I decided to move before I really felt ready. I think this will be a lesson I need to learn over and over. It fits in so many areas of our life. It also helps eliminate the anxiety over doing certain tasks. You can get out of your mind and simply do the task in front of you.

I'm going to work on that. Maybe you needed to hear this encouragement too?

Here's where I'm planning to place my focus for August:

Daily Goals

  • Pray for my husband | I want to be super intentional to pray for my husband this month. I've gotten out of the habit of praying for him regularly. I'm going to get back into the habit pronto!
  • Up by 7:30 am | I am not a morning person. But lately I've been inspired to try to get up early again. (I'll be sharing more about this soon!). I'm starting at 7:30 am and will probably work myself to an earlier time.
  • Read a book during the day | I usually have one print book that I'm working on reading during the day and the rest of my books are on my kindle that I read at night. My nighttime reading is set in stone thanks to the habit I have built. But my daytime reading needs work.
  • Read with my little kids | We have not been as intentional about our reading challenge as I would have liked. I want to try my best to finish strong though.

Weekly Goals

  • Do something to declutter or organize our school room | I am planning to get this accomplished little by little one step at a time each week.
  • Do something to prepare for our new school year | Another task I'm completing one step at a time.
  • Do one thing from our Summer Bucket List | We are doing great on this goal and should be able to complete almost every item on our bucket list.
  • Read to the kids | This is a habit I've been trying to build all year long. If I can read to the kids at least once a week that will encourage me to read to them more, I think.

Monthly Goals

  • Plan my co-op class | We are joining a co-op for the first time in several years and I am so excited! I am also teaching a class. I know the general outline, but I need to plan the week to week schedule and get it worked out.
  • Create our new school rhythm | This is simply going to take me going through everything we need to accomplish each day and making a plan for how to accomplish it. Don't worry, I'll share with you when I'm done.
