December in Review

Toward the end of each month, I post a review of my goals, what I'm currently reading, a homeschool update, as well as other tidbits of information. I hope you like these monthly posts, they are usually well received. Let me know if you'd like to see other information in this roundup!

December Goals

I shared my new goals a couple of months ago. Here are my December goals:
  • Daily: Pray for my husband Michael | This goal has happily turned into a habit! WooHoo!
  • Daily: Up by 7:30 | This has been an ongoing struggle. I just can't seem to get motivated enough to get up out of bed early.
  • Daily: Write something | I did this goal more than half of the time. So I'm very happy with that progress.
  • Daily: Pray for my son Jonathan | I was able to do this every day and it too is quickly becoming a habit.
  • Daily: Work on my upcoming project | I did excellent with this goal at the beginning of the month. But once I realized I didn't have enough time to make it what I really wanted it to be. I gave up.
  • Daily: Advent Reading with kids | Every year I try to follow a plan and every year we struggle to make it happen. I was hoping this year would be different. But, it was not.
  • Weekly: Exercise two times | Life majorly got in the way of achieving this goal. I'm hoping with the new year to find a way to make exercise a habit again.
  • Weekly: Spend time with each child individually | I achieved this goal 3/4 of the time! That's continued progress.
  • Weekly: Family fun | We only missed one week. Hooray!
  • Monthly: Pray over friendships | Achieved! I am so thankful for my friends and consider it a privilege to pray for them and our friendships.
  • Monthly: Celebrate Christmas | We had such a fun time celebrating Christmas this year.
  • Monthly: Start reading Alive in Him | Started!
  • Monthly: Co-host the Powersheets prep work party | What an amazing experience this was! In hindsight, it should have probably been longer. But we were set up to finish on our own with a good start together. It really was a fun time.
  • Monthly: Launch my new project | This simply did not happen. I just ran out of time to make this project what I wanted it to be. I'm not giving up on it. But I am setting it aside for a while.

  • We are loving our state studies. Most days we are learning about a new state and we are all enjoying the process greatly. I've even learned a few new things already! That's part of the fun of homeschooling.
  • We've had quite a few sick days this month. Between a couple kids getting sick here and there we've had to take our share of sick days this month.

My Favorite Things

  • We got to visit family for Christmas! We got to visit the weekend before Christmas and it was a fun time to simply get to be around our family that we don't see very often.
  • I spent Christmas day in my pajamas! That's right! The whole day!!!
  • Our second annual baking day was a success. My oldest daughter wasn't interested in helping, but my younger daughter enjoyed being with me in the kitchen as we baked our hearts away!
