June Goals

This month's Powersheets Tending List.

I've been thinking a lot about this graphic on Instagram. Go check it out and follow ohhappydani while you are at it.

There's a lot of turmoil in our world right now. Our black friends and family and sisters and brothers are hurting. And it can at times feel paralyzing or like you don't know what to do to bring about change. At least for me.

I was highly encouraged by that graphic I linked to above. It illustrates that until you fix your own heart, and address it in your own home, nothing changes in the world.

I'm working on listening and learning and fixing my own heart.

Here's a really simple list of what I'm doing:
When you are lost as to what to do and the options seem endless, work on listening and learning for yourself. That's what I'm trying to do.

Because real change starts with ourselves.

Changes for our world toward racial reconciliation as well as little changes to our lives like the ones I attempt to pursue each month as I'll share below. Change is hard. But it's worth it.

My 2020 goals can be found here for reference, and here are my specific goals for June:

Daily Goals

  • No Phone 9-1 | This goal is doing good most days and achieving my purposes of being on my phone less and more engaged with those around me.
  • Drink 3 water bottles | This goal is one of my few health goals that  I seek to accomplish. I know our bodies work better with plenty of water!
  • Daily Liturgy Podcast | I absolutely love this habit!
  • Read Aloud | I want to do better about creating a daily habit of reading aloud. I need to find the right time to do it.

Weekly Goals

  • Move my body | I hurt myself at the end of last month and it's making this goal difficult. But I'm still hoping I can work on it.
  • Family Fun/Bucket List | As you'll see below, we will be making our new seasonal bucket list and begin working our way through it.
  • Spend time with the kids individually | I've got these scheduled out so it is pretty easy to accomplish these days. I'm thankful it's becoming a habit and our relationships are benefiting from it.
  • Listen to a homeschool podcast | I need the weekly dose of encouragement to keep me on track and not get discouraged or bogged down with expectations.
  • Get in the pool | We got a backyard pool this year and I want to be sure to actually get in it at least once a week with the kids.

Monthly Goals

  • Have a date with Michael | I'm getting tired of the at-home dates, to be completely honest. But we will still keep this up until we are comfortable going out again because it's important to us to spend time together.
  • Celebrate our 15th Anniversary | We did this already yesterday and I honestly cannot believe we've gotten here already. But I'm so thankful.
  • Finish The Storm-Tossed Family | I already accomplished this goal too!
  • Make our Summer Bucket List | I really benefit from making these lists and working through them to create fun family memories.
  • Start reading The Call of the Wild and Free | I'm excited to dive into this book.
