June in Review

Toward the end of each month, I post a review of my goals, what I'm currently reading, a homeschool update, as well as other tidbits of information. I hope you like these monthly posts, they are usually well received. Let me know if you'd like to see other information in this roundup!

This month I'm also going to add what you may have missed on YouTube because spoiler alert: I just started a homeschool YouTube Channel.

June Goals

You can find all of my 2020 goals here. Here are my June goals with updates:
  • Daily: No Phone 9-1 | This goal has pretty much become a habit at this point. I accomplished it every day except two.
  • Daily: Drink 3 water bottles | This goal was my biggest struggle this month. But I am hopeful for next month!
  • Daily: Daily Liturgy Podcast | I lost traction on this goal toward the end of the month.
  • Daily: Read Aloud | This goal was a struggle as well. Being out of our school routine has been hard for maintaining a read-aloud habit.
  • Weekly: Move my body | I accomplished this goal half of the time.
  • Weekly: Family Fun or Bucket List | We only missed one week.
  • Weekly: Spend time with each child individually | I was able to get this done every week for every child except on one instance.
  • Weekly: Listen to a homeschool podcast | Accomplished this one each week.
  • Weekly: Get in the pool | This was an easy win.
  • Monthly: Have a date with Michael | As you'll read below, this was accomplished and we even got to go out!
  • Monthly: Celebrate our 15th anniversary | I can't believe it's been that long! We had a simple day, but it was good.
  • Monthly: Finish The Storm-Tossed Family | Done.
  • Monthly: Make a summer bucket list | Done.
  • Monthly: Start reading The Call of the Wild and Free | Done!

Currently Reading

  • Mom...and Loving It! | I started this as my summer read. It's about finding contentment right where you are. I'm not that far yet, but it got off to a good start for me.
  • I'm Still Here | I got this one on audiobook from the library. It is captivating and hard, but in a good way. I had to return it before finishing it, so I'm on the waitlist to get it back again.
  • The Call of the Wild and Free | I snagged this one on sale for Kindle a little while ago and was so excited! This is my current homeschool read.
  • Every Body Matters | I just started this one. It's about strengthening your body to strengthen your soul.

Homeschool News

  • We are officially in our summer school routine. I shared our year in review here. Over the summer we will finish any subjects we are still working on (like my 7th-grader is still working on her science) as well as continue our math and language arts. It is much more relaxed and less stressful overall. I'm honestly loving it!
  • I had to order a few more books. Despite buying the bulk of our curriculum at tax time (Hooray!), when going through everything for a curriculum post and YouTube video, I realized I had forgotten to order a few books. So I went ahead and took care of it. But here is why it's news: because getting school books in the mail is like Christmas morning to a homeschool mom!
  • I made our tentative 2020-2021 school calendar. I've actually never planned out the whole year before, but I really wanted to get a picture of our terms and shift things around so that we hit our halfway point around Christmas. This leads to my next news...
  • We are officially going to start our new school year on July 27th. Although I have mixed feelings about it (mainly excited but yet anxious) I feel good having the date set and planned out.

YouTube Videos

My Favorite Things

  • Kitchen sink cookies from Panera. I don't know if I've shared this before, but if so it doesn't matter. This cookies are SO. GOOD. Last week my husband surprised me and brought one home. Yum!!!
  • Planning a trip to go to Ohio. My sister is going to be having a baby boy any day now and I'm so excited to get to go and see them soon. Of course, I'm not sure when I'm going, because it's a baby and they come when they are ready and not a moment sooner. But I'm still so excited.
  • Actually getting to go out and have a date. We actually had two in the last month which was a huge surprise! It was so nice to get to actually go out and eat food and have time to talk to each other and simply enjoy each other's company.
