September Goals

This month's Powersheets Tending List.

I feel a rush in my spirit that I don't want to cultivate. It's a hurry mentality, a "get things done" attitude. Now, I know some seasons call for this. But I'm not in a rushed season. My heart just hasn't gotten the memo.

Our family schedule is simplified and our life is pretty slow. Yet, I have this rush within me.

This month I'm going to attempt to remedy this conflict within. I want my heart and my home to embrace peace and calm.

It starts with my heart. And that starts with getting in the Word. I've struggled since this pandemic started to stay consistent to be in the Word.

Yet I know that the Word centers me. Keeps my perspective upward where it needs to be. Calms my spirit. Is good for my heart. Keeps me close to the Lord.

So this month I start with me. I start with my heart. And I know it will trickle to our home from there.

My 2020 goals can be found here for reference, and here are my specific goals for September:

Daily Goals

  • Word before World | As I stated above, I feel a rush in my spirit that I just don't want to cultivate. I'm hoping to get back into this daily habit that will ground and quiet my heart in the Lord first thing in the morning.

Weekly Goals

  • Move my body | After a month of letting this goal slide, I'm simplifying it to help me have better chances of success. I just want to move my body once a week. Now, if I do it once I will normally do it more than once. It's just getting over that first hurdle.
  • Family Fun/Bucket List | We are working our way through our summer bucket list and have finished most things!
  • Spend time with the kids individually | There is such good fruit growing here. I'm really happy with this goal but want to continue to track it so that I stay on target and so it's on my mind.
  • Listen to a homeschool podcast | This is good for my homeschool mama heart that gets weary and worn out all too quickly. This is another grounding practice that just helps me.
  • Deep clean something | I have several things that I just don't clean regularly (like the microwave) that really need some attention! I'm going to tackle them this month.

Monthly Goals

  • Have a date with Michael | I love this monthly habit and look forward to it very much!
  • YouTube/Blog Brainstorm Session | I really like this new habit of an intense brainstorming session each month to get ideas out of my head and onto paper. Now, it's another hurdle to actually write and record the content!
  • Make fall bucket list | It's that time to make a new bucket list of family fun ideas that we want to do.
  • Read "The Lazy Genius Way" | I got this one from the library, so I need to read it quickly because I only get two weeks. So far I'm really enjoying it! I love Kendra's presence online and approach to so many different topics!
  • Read "Teaching from Rest" | I didn't get to this book last month, so I'm hoping to read it over our school break this week.
