My 2021 Goals and Word of the Year

The yearly goal overview page from my Powersheets.

I had the pleasure of attending the Cultivate Your Year Live online event on December 7th put on by the Cultivate What Matters ladies.

It was honestly an amazing event for me to go through. I started the day feeling anxious and unprepared emotionally. I was worried about what I was going to get out of the event and if I had wasted my money, to be completely transparent. I was just not in a good place.

Throughout the course of the day, I found remarkable clarity and focus. I found my way forward.

I was in a new place (emotionally speaking) by the end of the day thanks to the process they led me through.

It was also very powerful to know that I was going through the same process (the Powersheets prep work) with many, many other women at exactly the same time.

I have seen great change by using this product over the years, I've spoken pretty consistently about that. But on this particular December day, I saw the immense change that can happen, emotionally-speaking, by discovering what matters most in your life at this current moment.

I didn't need to worry about last year, or 5 years ago, or even where I'd like to be, I was focused on the right now of this moment and seeking to find where God would want me to place my focus.

Well, friends, here it is. This is where I'm planning to pour out my time and energy throughout this year.

1. Move, care for, and celebrate my body.

  • WHY: This goal is a revisit of a goal I had a few years ago. I have to take care of this body I have been blessed with. I only get one and I want to live a long and healthy life. Therefore, I need to make some changes.
  • My first quarter goal is to walk 50 miles.

2. Love my family well.

  • WHY: This goal is a continuation of a goal from 2020. I saw great fruit come from focusing on loving my family well and I want to continue to grow in this area. They are my legacy and they deserve the best of me.
  • My first quarter goal is to put my phone away by completing a "12 Hour No Social Media Challenge" each weekday from 8:30 am until 8:30 pm.

3. Teach my children with joy.

  • WHY: This is a remake of a goal I had last year to rediscover the joy of homeschooling. I feel like this is an ongoing effort and I want to continue to work on it this year. I want our learning to be infused with joy as we journey through this process together. I have to remember that I set the tone.
  • My first quarter goal is to have more fun as we learn, specifically by cooking and adding more videos to enrich our study of the countries and cultures we are learning about at that current moment.

3. Tend to my spiritual health.

  • WHY: I am seeing much fruit in my spiritual health, but I don't want to grow complacent. I want all of my life to breathe the air of God.
  • My first quarter goal is to listen to The Daily Liturgy Podcast each day.

These are my four goals where I hope to put my focus in the next twelve months. This leads me to what my guiding word is.

My word of the year for 2021 is forward

I want forward motion in my life. Meaning onward so as to make progress, or toward a successful conclusion.

I want to see growth and progress in my life as we move forward into this new year.
